Itsy Bitsy - Sizzix Blog Hop

Hello Friends & Welcome!
If you are joining the Itsy Bitsy-Sizzix blog hop, you must have come here from the Itsy Bitsy blog, if not click here for the complete list & rules for joining the blog hop.

It is such a proud feeling to be one of the design team member of India’s leading craft supply chain of stores ITSY BITSY. This is my very first post as a DT member, so starting with my new found love, Scrapbooking. This craft form helps you preserve your memories with a special touch. Today I’m gonna show you how to use the ‘We R Memory Keepers – Sew Ribbon’ in a completely different way...

This tool is perfect to embellish your projects with ribbons. Ribbons can be weaved in different patterns like leaf, flower, scallop, etc. The tool has a coordinating Ribbon set (to be bought separately).

Every set has 3 different types of ribbons – velvet, twill & grosgrain

The tool pack has A template, punch & 3 ribbon needles.

The template comes in 2 pieces. Its magnetic and opens by sliding both the pieces. The paper is fixed between there piece. You can easily adjust the paper later.

The Punch has a sharp end to create slots on the paper for the ribbon to be woven easily. This punch fixes well on the template for safe storage purpose.
This was a brief intro to the tool and its use. Let’s head to my Project.

I thought of using the Sew Ribbon tool differently. Here is have used it to bind a Booklet.

Supplies required:
Scissors

Green Cardstock – for the pages
Size: 11 3/4 “ x 7 “
Score @ 4 7/8 ” – 5 7/8 ” – 6 7/8 ”
5 Sheets

White Cardstock – for the cover
Size: 11 7/8 “ x 7 “
Score @ 4 7/8 “ – 5 7/8 “ – 6 “ – 7 “
1 sheet

Always use a cutting mat while using this tool, though the blades don’t come out on the backside of the tool. Place the white cardstock vertically and fix it between the two pieces of the tool in such a way that the first scored line is aling to the top edge of the tool. Now holding the tool in place start punching the slots with the punch. Once done rotate the sheet and repeat the punching process on the other scored line. Lastly fold along the scored lines.

For the green cardstock fold the sheet along the middle scored line and then start punching the same way.

To weave the ribbon, peel the backing paper from the ribbon needle and stick it to the ribbon edge. This will help easy sewing of the ribbon through the slots. Save the backing paper to re-stick it to the needle and re use it.

Place the green pages within the white cover page and start sewing the ribbon from the back. Pass the ribbon through the bottom slot of the back cover – pages – front cover and then move to the next slot.

Keep sewing till you reach the top most slot. You will end up on the back side of the booklet. Cut the ribbon to the booklet edge and fix it there. Do the same on the starting end too.

Back cover with the sew ribbon.

To decorate the cover I took a piece of white cardstock (size 6 7/8 “ x 4 ¾ “). Dabbed the co-ordinating distress inks (you can use any other inks)  on the craft sheet and mist a good amount of water. Then placed the sheet on top of the inks making sure the entire sheet is coloured. Dry the sheet using Heat Gun.
Next I used stencils to enhance the background. Using the Archival Ink I stamped the butterflies and added pearls to it.
Stamp the Sentiments using Acrylic Block and VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad. Add heat embossing powder to it and heat set it. Then fussy cut it and adhere it to the cover using double sided foam tape.
Finally stick the decorated cover to the booklet using tacky tapes.

The Back Cover is done using stencils and distress inks.

And finally for the pages, stamps the same butterfly randomly using the same tone distress ink.

Thus, this completes my booklet using sew ribbon binding.
